Biography for Neil Minnaar

Neil was born in Cape Town but spent most of his life in Natal, firstly in Pietermaritzburg where he attended Merchiston Prep and PMB College before his family moved to Durban where he completed his schooling at Durban High School. Despite having to overcome much adversity, he enjoyed much success on the cricket field having played provincial cricket for both Natal and Transvaal, as well as having coached for many years both in Natal where he coached the Natal ‘B’ side and the Colts and the Western Cape where he was the Head Coach of the Western Province & Boland Academy. He has been married to Lynne for 36years and they have two married daughters Sharnè (Shar-nay) and Sasha and a 4yr old granddaughter. Lynne retired from teaching at the end of 2017 after 43 years in the teaching profession. 

They have resided in Somerset West since 1996. Neil was in the Sport Management industry from 1992 to 2015, focusing on rugby since 2000. He was Chairman of the SARU Agents Board. Neil is a survivor of stage four cancer having been diagnosed in 2004 with this debilitating disease. A year later he was hijacked by a gang of eight and in 2006 was struck with the virus Bell’s Palsy which attacks the facial muscles. Combine his strong faith, and determination to overcome, with his passion and desire to see each individual unearth their gifts and dreams in order to live fulfilled lives, and you, have the reason why Neil developed his inspirational presentation, “WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU HERE FOR?” Neil believes that everyone was born with a dream – however, sadly 80-85% of people never fulfill their dreams. They have resided in Somerset West since 1996. Neil was in the Sport Management industry from 1992 to 2015, focusing on rugby since 2000. He was Chairman of the SARU Agents Board.
Neil is one of those speakers that you never tire of listening to and that others aspire to reach the heights he has.
